Our Story
KARU was born out of a very personal reset. After becoming a mum, I realised I had slowly faded into a wardrobe of safe, utilitarian black clothing. But my personality was not muted – I am loud, fun, and expressive – and my clothes simply stopped matching who I was inside.
I wanted a way to inject joy and personality back into my everyday life without having to overhaul my whole wardrobe. I didn't want to settle for a boring, beige tote just because I was doing a school run, running errands, or commuting into an office. We believe that stepping into roles like "parent" or "professional" should not mean surrendering your personality and style at the door.
That search led me to the vibrant, dopamine-inducing textiles of Jaipur, India. The craftsmanship, rich history, and unapologetic prints were love at first sight. I designed KARU to bring these patterns into durable, heavy-duty everyday bags – the ultimate antidote to the boring bag. Made for real life, built to handle the heavy lifting, and designed for anyone, from any walk of life, who refuses to let their style fade into the background.
